My son is going through pacifier withdrawals....help needed

He has been addicted to it for 3 years. He decided last night he wanted to get rid of them and go to the lake and throw them away. We went to the lake today and threw all 5 of them away and he didn't blink an eye. However, it's getting close to bedtime and he's starting to go crazy. Any help s appreciated
