I joined my Boy scout troop at 11 that was 1970. We ushered every Auburn home football game. If my memory is correct Sullivan and Beasley played JV ball as freshmen was not allowed play varsity ball back then ? I remember Beasley flying down the field looking like he was trying to catch a punt running full speed running away from the punter. He had his arms up like fielding a punt with head as far back as he could tilt it . Sullivan threw balls to him that were so high it looked like a punt. He threw it early and Beasley run under it. I saw him take a hit will running with his head back arms up. It was cringe worthy made you scrunch up when you saw it. He always got up somehow and went back into game. We hollered for him admired his guts wore his jerseys . He was a hero. What none of us realized at the time what effect those hits had on his Brain and body. Because of Athletes like him that suffered these cruel injuries has lead to better helmets , Targeting rules that made the sport we all love to watch so much safer for players. I will never forget Beasley running open down the sideline running free toward the endzone.
