Musicians on here (or anyone), but espec. drummers, opinions on Stewart Copeland?

As a huge fan of that decade of music (and the MTV influence, good or bad), I was a big fan of The Police. And Copeland’s work as key to it.

Besides him seeming a human phuquing metronome, he played with a controlled intensity, never sacrificing the essence of the song to push his own instrument to the front, yet bringing the heat.

Thoughts on Copeland in the pantheon of incredible drummers? Does he get a seat at the Roundtable?

He first played trombone of all things, then guitar before drums. His father was big in jazz, and you get some of that influence in his work.
