A motorcyclist was clocked doing 161 mph on I-565 in Huntsville on Wednesday, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.
ALEA initially described the incident in a tweet saying the rider had been stopped. However, later in the day an ALEA spokesman said that the trooper had lost sight of the vehicle and was unable to make a stop.
ALEA's original tweet, apparently deleted after the error was discovered, said that state troopers were out "in an effort to keep our roadways safe" and encouraged drivers to "Please slow down, buckle up and make it SAFELY to and from your holiday destination."
