Monday was a pretty good day for Auburn baseball. Cole Foster was taken by the Giants in the 3rd round and Bryson Ware by the Phillies in the 8th round. Both will sign MLB deals.
The best news is that Joseph Gonzalez and pitching signees Bjorn Johnson and Cameron Tilley were not drafted. I can say with reasonable certainty (not guaranteed) that all three will be a part of Auburn's baseball program in 2024. That's a legit SEC Friday night starter and two highly-regarded young arms. YUGE
The only disappointing development was transfer commitment Sam Mongelli going to the Dodgers in the 10th round. He's expected to sign a MLB contract so Auburn will be in the market for another middle infield transfer.
The 2023 MLB Draft will wrap up with rounds 11-20 Tuesday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. CT. The biggest thing to watch tomorrow is where/if Bobby Peirce is drafted. Right now, I think things look pretty good for his return. I also think Chase Isbell has a pretty good chance to be drafted and sign with a MLB club.
