One very curious play. 1st half. JJ runs the 'option,' then pitches it to the RB. What was weird was how JJ carried the ball - both hands, in front, down by his waist. That was a great position to do an underhand pitch to the RB, but not a great way to try to convince the DE that he (JJ) had any intention of actually running the ball.
I don't know why, but when we run the play with 3 WRs to one side, then pass to one of them. at least one defender always breaks though and stops the WR for a short gain. Other teams seem to success with that play, but not AU.
I like Stan Truitt running the jet sweep. He's quicker and more explosive than Ricardo Louis, who is more of a straight line runner.
Strangest play of the game was when Fournette ran for about 20 yards for a TD. The CBS replay showed Rudy Ford jogging over to help, then attempting a tackle with no more than one arm. Rudy ran past the RB as if he just didn't carry. Gary Danielson gave Ford a hard time for his lack of effort, which seemed entirely justified.
There was a pass where JJ threw into double coverage. It wasn't intercepted but it couldashoulda been. Interestingly, we had 2 WR's in the same area. Obviously one ran a bad route.
Great hustle - in the 4th Quarter the RB ran from the 30 to the 5, where he was tackled (25 yards downfield) but M Adams. Great play.
Good to see JJ do a little running the 2nd half. Better than what I expected. CBS noted, though, that in the games against LSU in both '13 and '14, Nick Marshall ran the ball 30 times.
