I don't really keep up with state politics as much as I should. I just know that with elections, unless the incumbent candidate of a major position is just really reeling or has done something to make them widely unpopular they usually don't face much, if any, competition in their own party in primaries.
So I am pretty surprised that Kay Ivey is facing 6 challengers in the GOP primary this year. So far the one with the most media coverage and ad time is Lynda Blanchard, who seems a little back woods coo coo and is boasting about Trump nominating her to be the US ambassador to the highly prominent country of Slovenia. Most people in Alabama can't point to Slovenia on a map... The only other candidate I know anything about is Tim James, Fob James' son.
Anyway, what I'm asking is what are the GOP's beefs with Ivey? Is it her age? How she's dealt with COVID issues and mandates? Just looking for a fresh face? I do know this, her campaign ads are pretty cringe worthy and make her look old, weak, and hokey.
