I have posted on here a couple of times about his situation. For those that haven't read the previous posts, or those that are interested, he had a stroke in March and never recovered. For him, it was pure misery for 2 months and I'm relieved on his behalf that he's out of that misery. He dealt with serious depression after losing both of his parents inside of 10 months and I didn't know just how bad it had gotten.

The fact that I'm relieved for him that it's all over doesn't take away the hurt of knowing that I won't have my friend there to shoot the shit with during football games at Thanksgiving and Crhistmas while my mom and grandmother are shooting the shit in the other room.

He was a true, salt of the earth guy that loved riding 4 wheelers and horses; he loved doing dog shows with his buddies that he had known since childhood; he loved to go to football games and keep in touch with players he had coached (I'm sure some on here played for him at Prattville in the 90s); he loved to drink beer like he was still 21 and call in the middle of the night too.... Those were always fun conversations.

I could fill this board with stories he had about bammer and AU coaches that would probably get me banded. If anyone wants to know some of them, just DM me and I will try to do them justice.

I really did want to get to take him to an AU game this fall and that is something I will always regret... Stuff I didn't get to do. But me, my sister, and our mom will never for one second doubt how he felt about us. For anyone that might know him and want to come for visitation, just DM me and I will give you the details.

RIP Eddie "Coach" Gibbs
