There are three teams outside the top 6-8 that we could be competing for top 5 for, depending on who they have commit, Oregon with 15 commits, USC with 16, and FSU with 13. All of these teams have high star averages based on the commits they've gotten to this point. I am not sure who their other prospects are, but let's say they fill out the rest of their classes with only 5.8 4-stars.
If Oregon adds five 5.8 four star players they will have 2,837 which would put them 219 points above bama for 2nd.
If USC added four 5.8 four stars, they'd have 2459 which would overtake us for 5th.
If FSU added seven 5.8 fours stars, they'd have 2459 which would overtake us for 5th.
Rankings will change as the season goes through the All-Star games, but these three teams still have quite a few spots left before they have to start subtracting points. Whereas right now, if we were to add a 5.8 4-star, we'd also have to subtract points as we drop another player from our top 20, thus we'd only get to add 15 points to our total, instead 105.
Just something I thought would be interesting to monitor.
