Just some updates on the baseball team going forward...
** 1B/DH Cam Hill and C Ryan Dyal have entered the portal. Both are leaving on good terms and looking for an opportunity for more playing time. RHP Carson Swilling, who was suspended last season, is transferring to South Alabama.
** 3B Bryson Ware, SS Cole Foster, C Nate LaRue, CF Kason Howell, OF Josh Hall, OF Justin Kirby RHP Chase Isbell, LHP Tommy Vail and LHP Tommy Sheehan are all either out of eligibility or declaring for draft and won't be back.
** RHP Joseph Gonzalez and OF Bobby Peirce are both exploring their draft options. I'd say both are around 60/40 leaving but that could certainly change based on how much $$$ MLB is willing to pay.
** RHP's Ben Bosse and Ben Schorr are both returning after sitting out last year due to surgeries.
** RHP Christian Herberholz, LHP Tanner Bauman and RHP Konner Copeland are expected to return.
** Of the top guys returning, Ike Irish will play C (that's 100%), Chris Stanfield is expected to move to CF and Cooper McMurray will be back at 1B. Caden Green is back at 2B but I expect he'll face competition.
** Of Auburn signees, SS Colt Emerson and 2B/SS Kevin McGonigle are likely going high in the MLB draft. They would be AU's starting middle infield if they were to come. Both are very talented. It's not 100 percent on either signing a MLB contract so we'll see. LHP Bjorn Johnson and RHP Cameron Tilley are also draft possibilities but I think the expectation for both, at this time, is to be at Auburn.
** The baseball transfer portal is open through July 13. I expect AU will look for help at the corner outfield spots, infield and DH. The MLB Draft is July 9-11.
