So much fail in this play. I will try and start somewhere...
1. Play side D.E., I believe Dontavious Russell gets handled pretty easily by a freaking T.E. He is supposed to be our 2nd best DL at the moment. That is a terrifying thought after watching this play. That allows the Fullblock to easily engage number 8 on D.
2. Cassanova didn't do a great job but at least he created a stalemate with the Fullblock.
3. Not sure what happened to M. Adams, who is our best DL currently. He got reached very easily by the C and was handed off to the RG who took him for a nice ride into the turf 5 yards downfield. This was a huge problem because...
4. Said C moved up to Tre Williams who is the other LB I believe and was the best candidate to make the tackle on this play if he had been quicker to react. He didn't appear to be doing much of anything besides staring into the backfield. He "caught" the C and got absolutely destroyed. M. Adams maybe could have helped him here by fighting the reach block a little bit better, but either way once Williams got swallowed it was our secondary vs. Fournette. No chance.
We look beyond lost on defense. We lack discipline. We lack physicality. Looks like we lack basic football IQ. They ran a toss sweep to the left and the pulling tackle did not even have to hit anybody.
