The Alabama money guys have been on the same page for 17 years. That's because there was the unifying factor of Saban. The relationship worked like this: Saban demanded things, they gave him those things. No questions asked. Why? Because he was winning championships. You gave him what he wanted, every time, no questions asked.
Now that guy is gone. And there's bound to be conflict over the future direction of the program.
Will Alabama be willing to pony up huge dollars to entice someone who everyone knows won't be as good as Saban anyway?
That's why I think they'll ultimately go with Lane. He'd crawl to Tuscaloosa if he had to. They won't have to break the bank for him right off the bat. Not like they were paying Saban anyway.
The problem is that Lane allegedly burned some bridges during his time in Tuscaloosa. And if Nick Saban has anything to do with the search, and I'm not sure if he will, then I think they will test the waters with other guys first before they have to swallow their pride and give Lane a call.
TLDR: I think Lanning and Sark turn it down, and they go with Lane
