My girlfriend and I had several distillery tours this week. Highly recommend going after the holiday season. Low crowds and easy to get around in shops.
Tours:
Thursday:
Four Roses - good tour but was expecting more. Beautiful campus and tasting was very good. Say 6/10
Woodford Reserve - cool tour for the history and tasting was good. Drive in passing the horse farms is absolutely beautiful.
Bardstown Bourbon Co. - very cool tour and such a massive production. Very modern theme and tasting was unique as they take you through the aging stages of the bourbon. 8/10
Friday:
Rabbit Hole- another modern tour and was very cool. Went through the stages tank by tank which was cool to see and tasting was good. 8/10
Old Forester- favorite tour. Very unique and informative. Got to see more in depth the barrel process and even see a singles barrel select tasting done for a local store. So cool 9/10
Mitchers : cool tour but very small space. Unique in that they barrel at 103 proof compared to 125 for most distillers. 8/10
NULU - very small production and presentation. Tour going over prohibition and then tasting was sub par but they are still growing and will improve. 6/10.
Overall a great time and lots of great bourbon was drank. Will be going back again in the summer.
