2023 Kaidon Salter
177-290 61.0% 2876 yards 9.9 y/a 32 TD 6 INT 176.6 passer rating
163 attempts 1089 yards 6.7 avg 12 TD
2020 Malik Willis (only 10 games, first year as full-time starter)
170-265 64.2% 2260 yards 8.5 y/a 20 TD 6 INT 156.2 passer rating
141 attempts 944 yards 6.7 avg 14 TD
I think I have to change my position after looking at these numbers... For starters, I was never a believer in Malik Willis. I think he inflated his numbers vs. weak competition while at Liberty. With that said, Salter blows away those numbers. I have no idea if either Willis or Salter will be good in the SEC, but I think of the two players, Salter gives me more confidence in his numbers that he will at least be able to compete in the games we should be expected to win.
I still believe that Thorne can be successful if Hugh Freeze buys into taking over the offense fully. But Salter is a good QB to add to this room if you are looking to do something different.
