in '09 (first in the chiz' reign) we had 6 of 13 games with less than 30 points scored. And our QB play was .... interesting (in the vein of the Chinese curse, may you live in interesting times). Now, MOST folks would agree that this team was not overly talented (given that the previous one got the tubster and BBQ bunch farhd) but I'm certain our "Gus can't get QBs" crew will find blame for our O being lackluster.
2010: Gus and the O did OK .... looking forward to the DAs finding fault with a 14-0 SEC and NC season. Gus' O actually had 4 games with less than 30 points and this is the ONLY year Gus has been here that our D was very solid. Took Gus 5 games to figure out he should let Cam lose. AND, he still had the chiz (master of stifling our own offense) ... looking over his shoulder.
2011: 7 (EDIT NOTE .... I MISTAKENLY SAID 3) of 13 games scoring under 30. Again, not a great option at QB, but there was more then enough points to win more games if we'd had a D that was pulling it's weight. EDIT ADDITION: THIS MAY HAVE BEEN OUR WORST OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION IN THE GUS YEARS.
2013: 13 seconds from another NC. SECC. O had only 2 of 14 games under 30 points. With a QB that was a DB for ugag .... and nobodies' first choice for a passer.
2014: 2 out of 13 games with less than 30 points of offense. Scored 20 in a W at KSU and only 7 at ugag.
Scored 44 at the turds ..... I'm sure our DAs will find fault with the O here. I'd say a half arsed AU D would have won us that IB if we'd scored ONLY FGs on every trip inside the red zone.
SOOOO, other than his first season at AU ..... the ONLY time a Gus offense has been shut down was in the debacle at ugag.
Put another way .... in 67 games under Gus the only absolute train wreck on O was last season at ugag.
One (1) out of 67.
So, let me say this again for our slower folks .... what AU needs most is for Boom and Company to restore a top 20 D to the Plains.
Of course, I know there are many who still wish Gus could recruit a QB.
EDIT ADDITION: the 2008 team averaged 11.63 PPG in the SEC including 0 against the turds, 7 versus ole piss, and 13 each versus Vandy (L) and ugag. OH and we racked up 3 points in a W versus missy state. THAT is what Gus inherited.
