I like JR's game, and I think he has potential to be a very good player. However, the hype is receiving is unwarranted IMO. We are talking about a guy who was a 4-star out of high school, the 10th best RB, and the 136th overall player in the nation (not R100 guy). He was highly-coveted yes, but he was not generally classified as a superlative or transcendent talent like, say, Roc Thomas or even Kerryon Johnson, who possesses rarely-seen versatility.

JR's high-school stats and offer list were good, but again, not a R100 guy and certainly not a 5-star. Now, he did put up those gaudy numbers at Georgia Military, but then he followed that up with a very pedestrian sophomore season. I know all about the O-line problems and other extenuating factors that contributed to those numbers, but still, he was held firmly in check in his second season. Some of you seem to think that just because he was a 5-star by Rivals and had one dominant year in JUCO that he is going to come in here and be an All-American off the bat. Where does the hype come from?

IMO he is 3rd on the depth chart right now. Again, I think JR is very talented and will probably play on Sundays, but he is going to have to battle Barber HARD to beat him out for carries. PB looked like a beast in the spring game.
