JJ not seeing the defender: correctable?

I heard a radio talking head say that Jeremy Johnson's throwing interceptions was a "correctable mistake." That got me to thinking what types of mistakes really are correctable, and which are likely to persist.

Some 'mistakes' do seem to be to be easily correctable. Examples:
- teaching a DB not to bite on fakes by WRs
- teaching a DE to hold his position so he can handle reverses
- teaching a WR to run cleaner routes.

But some 'mistakes' seem resistant to correction:
- teaching a WR to catch more of the passes thrown to him
- teaching a DL to get off the line quicker.

Then there's JJ. His interception have been frustrating because when he's thrown the ball there was a DB standing right there, directly between JJ and the WR. How could he not have seen the DB? I don't know….but he didn't. It is not a matter of him trying to 'force' the ball past the guy; he truly did not 'see' the guy. He was so focused on the WR that his mind somehow didn't register the existence of the DB. We're talking brain function.

(Note: I've had it happen to me. I look for my glasses. I check the kitchen counter. Not there. I look elsewhere, then return to the kitchen and find them….on the counter. Why I didn't see them the first time I have no idea).

Anyway, I'm hoping JJ's problem is in fact correctable, but I fear it's not, at least not fully. Expect some more of those 'he threw it right to the defender' interceptions.
