I see different things than Caleb.

• WR Sam Turner works incredibly hard at his craft. He has that Dee Ford (the one from St. Clair County) attitude about getting better every minute.

• WR Horatio Fields is a player. He made a few outstanding snatches in coverage today — including a diving, one-handed grab down the sideline.

• WR Cam Coleman's every-down excellence really stands out. He kinda floats to the right position (even though he's working hard) and rises up so elegantly to win balls in the air. He's so damn good. These other guys are good; Cam is on a different level.

• Auburn needs an upgrade at TE, IMO. Didn't see much there today. I think Fields will be a de facto TE in some personnel sets this fall.

• QB Jackson Arnold has excellent consistency on his deep throws. He gives them a chance to compete every time. His fade routes were particularly good today. His throws aren't always things of beauty, but his placement is excellent. He also knows how to add something or take something off a throw. He understands the nuances.

• QB Deuce Knight has a GREAT arm. His placement was a little hit-or-miss today and he was intercepted by Newboy Feagans on a crossing route. (Great read from Newboy.) With that said, Knight also threw some excellent deep balls. His throws are almost always perfect spirals. His mechanics are flawless. It's just about placement now.

• CB Donovan Starr didn't have an awesome day, but he held his own under pretty intense pressure. He had a pick right after giving up a really tough catch to Sam Turner along the sideline. He competed. He's invested. I like him.

• Hearing that CB Raion Strader is thinking too much and not playing confidently. Freshman Blake Woodby probably is ahead of him right now. Nobody knocks Strader's ability. It's all about trusting his instincts.

• Feagans and Eric Winters are really pushing for playing time this fall. The older guys better step up or they will get passed up.
