Hey everyone.
Got a little bit of news here. By now you’ve seen intel from a different network regarding the teams really pushing for FIU transfer Denver Jones. That list included Ala, Ark, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Before that list was even generated, back to last week, Bruce Pearl personally met with Denver Jones in Miami. Pearl is in Huntsville today to meet with Jones’ family to explain his vision for Denver and how he’d fit at Auburn.
BP was the first coach to meet with Denver and is the first coach to meet with this family. Auburn is very much in it.
BP met with Rice guard Quincy Olivari in Miami earlier this week. I think this recruitment will take a little time. Word is that Olivari likes being recruited, so he won’t be in a hurry to make a decision.
BP will fly to North Carolina this afternoon to meet with Temple wing Damien Dunn, who is from the Tarheel State. Dunn visited NC State last weekend, but Pearl will make his pitch today with an eye on getting Dunn to campus after the Final Four. (There will be a one-week dead period starting tomorrow.)
Auburn also has been talking with Washington State wing TJ Bamba, who just finished his junior season with the Cougars. He’s 6-foot-5, shot 37 percent from three-point range, 46 percent from two-point range last season. He was 73 percent at the line. He originally is from NYC.
Auburn is searching for a second option at power forward (alongside Jaylin Williams) for next season. It’s unclear if the Tigers have settled on any true targets at that spot just yet. It seems like the emphasis right now is on adding a combo guard and a wing.
