It's better than bright mode for sure, but the theme is too simplistic, likely due to the readability changes they made after it slipped through to release. @Jay G. Tate there are better dark-mode themes that can be very easily implemented.
1. Almost 0 color aside from an orange button
2. No differentiation between threads which have been clicked on or not
3. No thematic flair
anyway, I'm not a ux guy but it could and should be better.
