IMO, maybe the biggest threat is the lack of consistency in our application of moral principles that stems from being more interested in preserving power status for any chosen political party over holding true to those things that we can share in common. This includes our liberal values of freedom and equality.
People who are willing to toss those values aside to just stay in power or to get power are the worst.
Until we have more Americans willing to call out their own side when they act outside those values, we won’t have unity.
