It's hard to argue with my recent success against LAS VEGAS in predicting the performance of our 2016 Auburn Tigers. If you need a refresher, start here and work your way back.

In my last thread, I said I was waiting on Gus's press conference to make a decision on which side to bet this weekend. I've seen the press conference, and I'm ready to make my prediction.

This game will be tight. Les clings to the run game against teams with better defense than offense. He will attempt to ride Fournette to victory without needing to expose his QB. Steele will sell out to take Fournette away and to rattle the new QB with pressure. The new QB will be told all week that any drive ending in a kick is good, so I see him eating the ball instead of taking gambles. Gus will gladly follow Les's lead and let the game stay tight, hoping to deliver a few huge, momentum-swinging blows to get the crowd engaged.

Gus is going to do something different this week. He seems far more centered today than he did Saturday after the game. He spoke clearly and he wasn't angry. He faced the music with what I judge to be a quiet, guarded optimism, and I think I understand why.

This game can change everything. LSU is weak, but the brand is strong. They have star power, but they're very vulnerable. The game is at home, in front of all the doubters. This could be Gus's best chance so far to turn the tide on his fate at Auburn. He knows we can win this game without playing well, and it's providing some much-needed comfort during these crucial hours leading up to the game.

I think we see something different on offense this week. I expect to see some new wrinkles, and I expect them to be more crisp than we've seen so far. This is a game we can win even if 50% of our offensive plays look anemic. It will be tight, and we may only need 3 or 4 big plays to win. Knowing this and preaching it to the offense this week should give them confidence in their preparation because they don't need to add 10 plays they can execute at a high level to win.

If this is the plan (and it should be the plan,) then all it will take for Gus to walk out with a YUGE win is to rely on Steele's dog-cussing this week and then hit a big play or 2 to get the crowd engaged, knowing LSU may not be able to recover.

AUBURN - 24
LSU - 16

Bet accordingly.
