Ok so here we go
SEC dline # of snaps (this counts edges/buck linebackers like mcleod plus your inside guys)
typically good SEC defenses have 8-9 guys rotating (UGA, tamu, kentucky). 7 is ok (bama is good because talent. mizzou was fine too). 6 is bad (dont want to be south carolina/miss st)
only 4 freshman got over 200 snaps last year across the SEC (2022 there were 13 freshman >200 snaps, 2021 19 freshman, 2020 12 freshman)
- teams with multiple freshman with over 200 snaps = 2020 miss st, 2020 vandy, 2020 arkansas, 2021 florida, 2021 vandy, 2021 kentucky, 2021 tennessee, 2021 arkansas, 2022 georgia, 2022 tamu, 2022 kentucky, 2023 florida (either means talented defense or really bad, not really any in between... also its pretty rare, 12 instances across the conference for 4 seasons)
other thing i wanted to look at was # of Nose Tackles with >200 snaps since I assume they get rotated them most throughout games/lower stamina
so the outliers = mizzou and 0 nose tackes (just looking at body type and alignment) and tamu w/ durkin intrestingly only team with 3 (jackson, raikes, regis. regis is projected starting NT for tamu this year)
so probably need at least 2 NT maybe 3 in those 9 spots
heres your 16 guys up for rotation spots
ill go
1.) McLeod
2.) Crawford
3.) Keys
4.) Blidi
5.) Raikes
6.) Jones
7.) Trill Carter
8.)Faulk
9.) Amaris
i think blocton could push keys or blidi out of that 200 range if he keeps growing but itll be close
assuming that mcleod and crawford take up the 2 bucks in rotation, ill give you 7 more spots for guys who get 200+ snaps over the season (upper bound of SEC rotations from last season). probably need 3 NTs in there, give me your 7 guys
