Nothing so new on that score.
In an LSU (Tiger Rant) board post with subject line, This game will be uncomfortably close, here is a charcuterie sampler of some of the Corn Dog fans' take on this game. It buttresses the apparent AU fandom (a segment of AU fans) self-loathing that if Hugh has had (and he has with passing game) major areas to fix, tweak, overhaul, keep searching, and find answers, well, the season is OVER at game 5. Even with an open date, AU will continue to suck on offense (passing at least). Game won't be close.
A sampling of LSU message board fans see this spot differently:
This Auburn game will be uncomfortably close. They have held really good O's in relative check.
Auburn has far and away the best defense LSU has faced, and they have had two weeks to prepare for this game. They have a renewed sense of confidence after playing Georgia so close, and they're looking at this game to completely start a new season for them, getting to a bowl game. And they've seen LSU'S defense. That's enough to give any team confidence.
It will be close. But not because of Auburn’s defense. It will be because LSU is the worst defense Auburn will have faced all season.
Agreed, gonna be close. I predict HF will scheme up a few wide open TD's for them. Gonna be another wild one.
They are coming off a bye and Freeze is a good play caller/play designer. LSU can’t figure out where to line up and where to be against basic plays. Freeze will have several that completely confuse them. Even a bad QB can hit a handful of those. Combine that with the fact LSU can’t tackle and it’s hard to see Auburn not getting at least 30 points. That ultimately may not be enough, but I don’t think LSU can shut down even a bad offense at this point.
Auburn at Jordan Hare is a different animal than auburn on the road. They played UGA close but UGA also kept AUB in the game by turnovers.
This game makes me nervous in a sense that they had a bye week and they are real physical on both sides of the ball.
They will run for 200+ on us and we will win in the fourth like we did last weekend. 31-27.
Just think about the 2019 game. Joe Burrow and that historically good Offense barley got out of Tiger Stadium with the W. Trust me Auburn coming to win.
I agree, until a defense shows up we will be in a shoot out contest every game no matter how bad the opposing teams offense may be.
Their QB hasn’t been good but we’ll make him look like a Heisman candidate. It will likely be a close game unless that 2nd half defense from Missouri shows up.
We have a good offense and terrible defense. They have a solid defense with a terrible offense. I think it’ll be close. It always tends to be no close matter what. Last year we should’ve beaten them by 3 td’s, but we didn’t.
Tigers by at least three scores
What part of BYE WEEK ADVANTAGE don't you understand?
35-23 LSU
Close early but we pull away late. Defense gets a few key stops and we get some momentum on that side of the ball finally
31-28 LSU. I think it’s really close.
True I am getting FSU vibes from this one
All Thorne has to do is hand off the ball and their RBs will find gaping holes to drive a truck through!!
Auburn defense is pretty good, but offense does not have a QB to expose LSU secondary.
LSU 35 Auburn 24
No Auburn passing game means we blow them out.
. Lol- LSU’s secondary will fix their passing game!
Yea you can throw all the stats at me saying Auburn offense is terrible and I don’t care it will be a close game into the forth imo.
LSU defense is just as bad as Auburns offense.
LSU offense should be a little better than Auburns defense.
LSU at home wins but close.
LSU defense will make him look like all SEC. LSU offense however will score 40+ and it'll be enough.
I would love to believe that we blow them out. Yes, our offense can and probably will score every time they have the ball. BUT our defense is terrible. Freeze is a great offensive mind, and this is a defense that was dumbfounded by FSU running a simple counter dive.
