goes to another top school, so many idiots here lose their minds. We are coming off of THREE consecutive losing seasons. Hugh has only had one season here. The class he pulled in last year was simply amazing considering what he had to show for it. Damn near elite based on performance.
Everyone here talks about using NIL, but ALL the top schools, AU included, have plenty of money for that. So, with the NIL money/package being relatively even among top programs, you STILL have to have something else to show elite recruits and make them want to come to AU. If they have a million dollar a year package from 4 schools, WTF would they pick AU over the turds, uga, osu, etc? Why go where you win 7 games vs 11?
We are making great inroads with many top recruits/high schools, and they like Auburn. But many will go ahead and commit to one of the more successful programs to secure a spot. THEN, if the stuff that Hugh is trying to sell them on comes true this fall, we will flip a number of them back. To finish with a top 8ish class, we have to win 8-9 games, and look good doing it. Hugh knows that. Hell, everyone knows that. But worrying about losing recruits to elite schools in JULY, is just asinine. Let the season play out. If we get the wins, the recruits will be there.
