I went back and read the report, out of curiosity. It was in June 2018, so it seems like Durkin himself wasn’t even present when the whole situation went down.
The name I keep hearing the most is the strength and conditioning coach.
So if I’m the head coach, and I hire a strength and conditioning coach, and that coach makes a bunch of kids run until they puke, but one of them dies (possibly due to a pre existing illness), and the rest of the kids DON’T die, I’m a murderer?
I hate what happened to that kid. I hate what happened to Greg Pratt, too. But calling Durkin or Dye a murderer is beyond ridiculous.
If anything, there needs to be better physical screening of athletes before they’re allowed to take part in conditioning drills.
