I admit, I've never played football nor have I coached it. I have just watched Auburn my entire life. So before I'm asked that question, there's my answer. However, here is my 2 cents. Our issues on offense are not all Jeremy's fault. He is what he is. He's never been a great runner, but he is a very good passer. However, our offense begins with the running game, and right now we aren't running it well, especially on first down, because Gus's offense depends on the QB to be a threat running the football. For example, in 2013 against Alabama, when we had second down and 10 or 11, when Nick rolled out, the secondary had to respect Nick's ability to run the football. And Sammie kept going back and got open because the defense had to account for Nick's feet. Right now when Jeremy rolls out on the same play, he has defenses right there in front of our receivers. And is it possible, that in our offense, even though he SHOULD see them, he's not because when we normally run that play, they are having to respect the QB's running ability?? Now they can just drop into coverage and wait for him to make a mistake. So without having a QB who is a threat to run it, and without any Onterrio or Corey Grant running the sweep to the outside, Jeremy's ability to be successful is severely hampered. So what to do? Can Jeremy at least try to run it to at least keep the defenses honest? Right now I don't believe he's even trying. Also we have to get KJ or somebody on the edge. It doesn't seem that we're even trying to work with Jeremy to make him successful. At the same time, he HAS to take a sack or throw the ball away, and not force something that isn't there.
