There has been a lot of talk about how LeBron raises the play of those around him better than anyone. And what he has done with guys like Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, Timofey Mozgov and Matthew Dellavedova has been amazing. But I am not sure he does that well when you pair him with other superstars - or put in better words, those superstars don't do well when paired with him.

Before Chris Bosh came to Miami he was widely considered one of the best forwards in the league but when he was relegated to 3rd option and essentially a role player, well, he played like a role player. Same with Kevin Love. Best power forward in the game, skills should match with LeBron's very well, but this year showed he doesn't do very well when he isn't THE guy. Is this more a function of Bosh and Love not handling that role well or does LeBron's game not leave room for another superstar on the floor?

Scottie Pippen became a top 50 player because he knew his role on those Bulls teams and didn't play beyond it. He was a defensive monster and a second option on offense. I think LeBron would be better suited being surrounded by guys like Tristan Thompson who is a great role player, than Kevin Love who will get frustrated not scoring 20 points a night. Spot shooters, defensive stoppers, and guys who thrive in their specific role.
