I am pretty sure we have some folks on here who are experts in stocking ponds and lakes with fish. Our community lake is a 123 acre lake that is currently stocked with Large Mouth Bass, brim, shad and some hybrids. The population of the bass, bream and shade is growing well. Maybe to well on the bass side.
Anyway we are planning to talk over what the next species to introduce into the lake needs to be this Saturday. We have a huge diehard bass group of voters so it is tough to get anything through with them (hence the reason we have hybrids). I really want to put catfish in the lake.
My question is does anyone have any experience with this or even better a study they could recommend showing that adding catfish will actually help the health of the fish population? Many of them seem to believe the catfish will just take over the lake. I believe the catfish fry will be good food for bass and that the bass will help keep them in check.
Yes people fish and harvest the fish as well.
