I asked him about Canty's drives to the basket that end with him passing to teammates while soaring toward an open basket. That happened three times during the first half.

Marquis said that shot is much more difficult than it looks because shorter guys like Canty always are reticent about shooting near so many bigs without being able to really assess the defense. (Meaning Canty is paying attention to his teammates' positions rather than the position of the defenders.)

So Marquis doesn't find fault with Canty's decision to pass.

"You spend your whole life worried about bigs," he said. "It's not natural thing for a point guard."
