at least in the first half, and not until we show that we can throw the ball.
That's just what this old guy thinks. I know Gus and others know a whole lot more than me about football but I do have a right to my opinion.
I believe like some others that LSU is just going to load the box, just like we're going to do to their QB. Why would we not and why would they not? Neither QB has looked very good. It is difficult to run the ball when teams are bringing everyone in the box to stop the run.
I personally would love to see us go against our tendencies. On first down, we run the ball, that's what we do. I saw this stat in another thread, that we have had 61 first down plays and only have 12 passes in the 61 plays. We run the tailback up the middle a lot on first down, though I don't have that Stat. Jeremy was 10 of 12 for 83yds and one dumb interception on first down. We know they're going to load the box so let's do something different. Let's NOT do what we do.
I digress, but this is my thought on our tailbacks. What we know, is that Peyton Barber appears to be a player, a gamer. A guy that appears to do well when the lights are on. We know that Roc has had fumble issues. He's talented but a key fumble can lose a game. I worry every time he gets the ball. We really don't know about Jovon. He may play great when the lights are on or he may not. I think he gets too much Bunker love but I really don't know. I'd like to see him get some carries and maybe we can give Peyton some rest. Just like last year, I wanted Peyton & Corey Grant to get more carries, just to see what they had to offer. JMHO
