If this doesn’t work, then I’m not sure what will.

And I’m just being honest.

There are two realities on this board:

1. Hew is a good coach.

2. Hew is not a particularly good coach (not calling out Collier here, but that’s what he said and it’s been echoed by others as well).

I think Collier is a very intelligent man. I think Collier loves Auburn football, no matter who is coaching.

But if Hew isn’t a good coach, then who is? Outside of Nick and Kirby. Dabo? Sark? Lanning? Rhule? Kiffin? They’ve all driven their respective fan bases mad on multiple occasions, and even with their new found success, they’ve all experienced the struggle of rebuilding a program, outside of Lanning because Oregon is pretty plug and play as-is.

We hired a guy who had turned two cellar dweller programs into winners. We hired a guy who is known as an excellent recruiter. We hired a guy who could beat Nick and Kirby. We hired a guy with a supposedly brilliant offensive mind.

Are we supposed to ignore this mountain of tangible evidence due to a losing record in year 1? With the worst Auburn roster since 1981?

We can’t do that. The cycle has to stop now. We don’t have a choice except to stick with this dude and go where he takes us. We’ve already self-imposed the death penalty. We can’t do it twice.

I love Keionte, but this is the road back, with or without him, whether we like it or not. I don’t know what’s going to happen over the next several years. My gut tells me we’ll be back in 2025.

But if this doesn’t work, then I really don’t know what will. Part of that is comforting, the other part is terrifying.
