With the off-week to really fine tune numerous things as HUGH said today, from getting protections right, to narrowing down the combo of which plays actually WORK with the personnel we have, winning some of the 50/50's, plus importantly, the fact of LSU really struggling in pass defense ...
Auburn passes for 200+ yards this Saturday. I just refuse to believe that we are as god awful operating a fundamentally sound - not even sexy, just 'serviceable' - passing attack.
Caught my attention that Hugh said today that his focus the off week was finding those handful of plays that match our personnel ("will work"), and practice, practice, practice, practice those mothers into perfection. Me likey that approach - builds confidence heading to Death Valley.
Secondarily, what makes me sell this ludicrous, contrarian notion here to the Bunker aficionados is that with the extra week to self-scout, and install what they believe has a chance vs LSU, HUGH and Phillip have designed our passing plays to capitalize on the corn dogs' film study calling for AU to be very run-heavy like we did in almost taking down the # 1 team a week ago. So look for more passing on early downs (throws to Battie are like safe 'runs'), and run calls on 3rd and 6 or less.
I don't know if we can, but if AU can get to 31, with Roberts' "D", maybe this is a four quarter game with a chance to pull the upset. LSU has had back to back fairly emotionally draining games, and you know what Coach Dye said about how many of those a team can handle in a season.
I look forward to going, been a few years since I made the Red Stick trip.
