given the amount of talent that roster has and has had the last two years, he’s already accumulated historic failures in 2021 and 2022.

featuring a roster that has more five stars than nearly every conference combined (acc and sec only have more) and the resources they pour into football (while piledriving themselves into steep, costly debt no less) while not even making the playoffs with the #1 overall pick and multiple first rounders is nothing short of spectacular.

tcu made the playoffs with zero 5* and 7 4* players. lol.

people like to fawn all over saben for his winning record, and while he has certainly been elite the last decade, his failures shouldn’t be overlooked or ignored. even here people clamor to say “well i’d like some of that failure pls,” while conveniently ignoring the fact that if the barn had that kind of talent and failed to even sniff the playoffs barners would torch toomers corner.

the 2010 AU team is a good (albeit significantly less talented) analog for 2022 bama. cam and fairley were the show. bryce and anderson were that but surrounded with a plethora of 5* supporting them. AU had michael dyer? kodi burns at wr? a 3* at safety?

yet 2010 AU brought home the hardware. 2022 bama finished 3rd in their own division.

if you’re blind and ignorant, praise saben all you want. he should be absolutely raked over at kohl’s for the product he has put on the field the last two years. if he fails in 2023, and i think he will, the tide will self immolate as he hangs it up.

while i think georgia ends his career, i wouldn’t be shocked if HEW preps the retirement party.
