I think the big lesson to learn from Scott Frost is don't judge a coach by one great season.

He only spent two seasons as HC at UCF. First one was 6-7, second was of course 13-0 (thanks Gus). Pulling the trigger on him after one amazing season was too soon.

I know it's with hindsight 20-20, but nobody should've called him a "for sure hire" after just one amazing season. It was a risky hire, even had he worked out. I won't even bother naming all the coaches that were one hit wonders (cough Chizik cough). If he had stayed at UCF one more year and won another 10 games, then that alone would've made him a much more safe hire.

He’s an awful coach. Fell into magic at UCF and turned it in to $50 millions. He’s a great recruiter. The last 4 years they’ve finished 21, 15, 17, 18 in recruiting. He can’t keep or develop anyone but he can get them to sign on the front end.
His recruiting isn't total crap either, for Nebraska. Those rankings ought to at least get you to bowl games. He has yet to make a single bowl at Nebraska. This is a failure top to bottom in recruiting, coaching, whatever. Just a shit show.

Also this of course shows the difference between group 5 and power 5. Much easier to win on the group 5 level. Gus ought to have fun at UCF.
