Can ever adopt the "Abolish the Police" mantra. Without extensive law enforcement presence, Mardi Gras would be utterly unworkable. They are needed for everything from traffic control on up. You couldn't even have parades rolling were there no repercussions for jumping the barricades. People would be getting run over by floats as a regular matter of course. Then there's the reality of having thousands of drunk fools congregating in small spaces. Altercations would eventually become more commonplace, which means more people would bring weapons. Eventually violent deaths would occur.
