I've made numerous posts in the previous weeks stating that 2017 Bball stud John Petty is Auburn's to lose, and that he is a heavy lean to AU. All of this was before he balled out in an AAU Tourney in Lexington, and he just got "the offer of his dreams" from Cal and Co.
What does this change? I don't know honestly, except for the fact that I am not as certain he signs with AU as I was a week ago (1 guy close to the situation told me he was about 90% certain and that he was looking to make an early commitment, now who knows). Pearl has put in much more work recruiting this kid than Cal has, but that may not mean as much to this kid as it would others bc he is very enamored with UK and Cal. Will be a fight for sure, we have been recruiting him much longer and more frequent, but they are who they are, and it will more than likely be an uphill battle for the next year or more.
I throw myself at the mercy of the bunker court. I shouldn't have said something so sure sounding about an uber-talented kid who is 1.5 years or so away from making his decision.
Humbly,
Stiles
