I know I am about to be Bunker punched in the nutsack, but I want to share something I thought of today in church.
JJ doesn't have it. He is not mentally where an SEC QB needs to be to lead a team or succeed. This is obvious. And the criticism that he is under is very much warranted. He plays the most important position in the toughest conference in the most important sport in the Southeast, and up to this point, he has failed far worse than we could ever imagine.
HOWEVER, I listened to bammers berate and mock him and talk so bad about him this morning that it made me want to literally fight them in church. And then it hit me: Jeremy Johnson, in spite of all his shortcomings this season, is still part of the team that I love. He is a student at my alma mater. And, he is very much like a part of my extended family because of those things. Just like the members of this board.
JJ has a mother and a father who are just as shocked as we are about his play thus far. But he is not just a QB to them. He is their son. I cannot imagine the rage I would feel if my child was lambasted on the media or a message board or by opposing fans anywhere, much more in CHURCH.
We do not have to be content with mediocrity, Bunker. Yes, it is ok to call for Johnson to be pulled. But do not forget that this young man made a choice to spend his college career playing for a team we love and support, and because of that, he should get nothing but a pat on the back. Maybe it's time we lay off a bit.
Ok... I'll pick up the bar of soap now... Rape on.
