So I knew he was a great hire, but I didnt have a clue that Myers was this caliber of coach. He is like probably one of the best softball coaches ever. Look at these credentials.
Myers ran the Vaqueros' softball team, building a record of 481-43 and guiding the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) powerhouse to six national titles, including five in a row (1988-1992), while earning the NJCAA National Coach of the Year honor six times. His teams also captured seven regional titles and nine ACCAC Conference titles. An inductee into the NJCAA Softball Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Arizona Softball Foundation Hall of Fame in 2001, Myers also was selected as the National Softball Coaches Association (NSCA) regional and national coach of the year in 1990, 1991 and 1992.
As head coach for ASU, Myers advanced the Sun Devils into the Women’s College World Series seven times in his eight seasons, which included NCAA championships in 2008 and 2011.
that is freaking ridiculous stats.
In 2006, he inherited an ASU program that hadn’t achieved at least a .500 record in conference play since 1993. Myers has a winning record against every Pac-12 school and went 113-59 (.657) in conference play.
At Auburn, Myers steps into a struggling program that went 30-23 and 7-17 against the SEC in 2013 and was one of two SEC schools to miss the NCAA Tournament. We now see what he has done at Auburn so far.
I read the other day that his hire was a better hire than us getting Pearl, or bama getting satan. I was thinking hogwash, but OMFG, this dude is like the best softball coach ever. His record speaks for itself. I did not realize how great this guy was until after reading these stats provided. We caught lightening in a bottle, I hope he stays forever.
