We have a new President and he’s right in the middle of the fire before the pain is dry in his office. Because of that and because of my hope that Auburn has hired the right man for the job, I’ve tried and will continue to try to reserve any judgment on his process. I’ve argued that the timing of these hires and firings aren’t as important as getting them right. That being said, it’s time.
Roberts was decisive concerning Greene but that was easy. His contract was coming up so removing him wasn’t a tough call. It appears that a decision has been made concerning his replacement and now it’s just working out the details. Cohan wasn’t my 1st choice but if that’s who we hire, he will have my full throated support. We can’t afford for this hire to go bad so if he’s the guy, then he is my guy.
So if that decision has been made, then the next one should be made immediately. McGlynn should be instructed to fire Harsin tomorrow. Get that out of the way before the new AD is announced. Give our players and our fans the relief we all need. Let everyone breathe and let the new AD hit the ground running. Let the coaches who are staying, get on the road and sell recruits on a new day dawning at Auburn. New facilities, new NIL commitment, new AD who was once a player and coach who understands the commitment it takes, new coach and staff, new opportunities for success and they can be a part of the rebirth of Auburn football.
