HVAC goes out on the hottest week of the year lol

Figures.
Bought the house a few years ago. Already had issues last year and this year with the unit not cooling. Two separate issues they resolved pretty quick. Came home Monday evening and it was 75° in there… not good.
Cooled at night but not keeping up during the day. 82° yesterday.

Same company came out today and after a $300 service call tells us the TXV valve or whatever is bad. Costs $2200 vs new unit $8700. (House was built in 2002)

All this 3 days before we leave for Europe and it’s 102° outside currently 😂
