Hugh Freeze is holding his weekly press conference this morning. Click refresh, will continue to update...

** Before we start, a couple of updates to depth chart: Larry Nixon and Eugene Asante are the starters at Mike and Will linebacker. Jalen McLeod is the starter at Jack linebacker.

** Freeze should be here in about 5 minutes...

** Excited to get a win after a tough trip. Played with great energy and passion and fought for 60 minutes. Happy to get out of there with a win. You don't win many games like that.

** Don't recall having a season where you have those games that you could have easily lost but kids pulled it out.

** Defense pulled it out. Kept their heads up. Kept going on field saying, 'We got you, we got you.'

** Offense was awful. You can't win football games turning the ball over. Thought we ripped off some pretty good runs in 2nd half but you can't score with turnovers and penalties.

** Not sure that's what he wants the QB rotation to look like but "we had no juice, no rhythm.' Payton played really well the last possession but we need more consistency the entire game.

** Robby has to get his touches. Had a good package for him. Got behind chains when RB went wrong way.

** Called three long passes and should have called more. Early in game, we had one good shot but read different side of the field. Our WR didn't win a couple of more we called.

** Defensive alignment much better but still room to improve.

** Freeze said he called three plays in the Cal game including fade to Rivaldo. On giving up play calling: "It's hard. I ain't gonna lie." It looked like it was the first game offensively. Had some tough talks this morning but have a lot of belief in them (offensive staff). Spent a lot of time with defensive staff last week, going to do same with offense this week.

** We've got to stick with each other and work together to get better. 5 and 6 need more touches on offense. They're our best receivers. Wish they were bigger. Gotta improve the others. Got to play to our strengths and get better each week.

** The Cal game went nothing like I expected, which is good and bad. We worked on handling the tempo and they hardly used it. We never got in our tempo at all.

** Didn't call enough RPO's.

** Philip Montgomery and I are good. We're gonna work together this week to get better.

** A little scary in 2nd half on defense with the DB's out. Thin at LB without Keys. Proud of kids and staff for continuing to battle.

** Too early in week to know on injured players.

** Kayin Lee is really talented and going to be really good. Played well and can play better.

** Not sure if getting Fair and Var more touches means playing them at some time or not. Going to work on that today.

** Eugene Asante played his tail off. Jalen McLeod makes us different when he plays.

** Hope for more production out of WR room. Haven't proven it yet. Got to win more 1-on-1's and make better throws.

** Freeze doesn't want his players to say things about opponents before game. What Ott said did fire up players before games. Freeze did use it in pregame and gave them some motivation. Hope Ott is OK after getting banged up.

** The OL played well. Without turnovers, you're looking at another 250 yards rushing.

** McLeod is probably 85 percent. He's made us better at 85 percent. Will be a big boost at 100 percent. He's different.

** Don't like the way the QB rotation went at Cal. At the same time, Robby has to get his touches. That's something on my mind and we've got to figure it out.

*****THAT'S ALL*****
