We are set to speak with Hugh Freeze prior to Auburn's practice on Thursday. Some big news expected...

Follow along and refresh for all updates. Thanks!

*** Hugh starts by saying BP has been a good friend of his and how his prayers are with him and his family after the death of his father.

*** Fan Day last Saturday was incredible. Thought people staying in the heat was awesome. Hope no one left disappointed. "Great testimony to the Auburn family."

*** Garner Langlo has decided to retire from football.

*** "Yeah, I have decided to start Payton." Robby and Holden, he still believes, he can win with those guys as well. "It's time to do this to get us best prepare for the season."

*** Hugh said only four people in the building knew about Payton earning the starting job and it is interesting how it got out so quickly last night and today.

*** "I believe with all my heart that Robby gives us a great shot to win the game if he accepts this news ...

*** "At this point, the separation is the leadership ability and the understanding of the offense."

*** Hopes the other two continue to press to have him second-guess.

*** The receiver have had a better week this week after a bad scrimmage. "We had our best practice on Tuesday."

*** Doesn't think the players handled the heat very well on Saturday.

*** Camden brown finally practice yesterday. Adds more depth to the room.

*** "It's not easy." - on delivering the news to the QBs who didn't earn the starting job. "But that's life."

*** "You never know when your time is coming and what you are going to do when it comes." - mentions he played 4 QBs last year

*** "Robby will always have a package if he handles this the right way." - On Ashford

*** "I really felt like it was Payton going into the scrimmage and I thought he pressed a little bit." - on Payton in the scrimmage

*** "What a world." - on asking if the other quarterbacks will consider transferring

*** On Payton absorbing the offense: "The guy is in here all the time. I can't get rid of him. He wants to know the ins and outs of what I'm thinking and what Philip Montgomery is thinking. He's a pro at it ... at knowing how to prepare. Gives you a comfort level."

*** On Holden's growth: "He's the most natural passer of all of them. Still absorbing .. There's still times when he hasn't made the right decision. He's such a young kid. He has a bright future, there's no doubt in my mind."

*** Hugh feels good about Jay Fair, Ja'Varrius, Shane, Omari ... so fair in quarterback rotation. Shorter is also in there. Nick Mardner is all in there and Caleb Burton.

*** The quarterback situation is set going into UMass. Payton will get all the reps with the 1s. Robby will get reps with the 2s. Holden with 3s.

*** Hugh doesn't see the other positions as battles. He wants 2 and 3 deep all across the board. Some competition to make the travel squad.

*** On the Touhy/Oher situation: He said he loves them both. "I witnessed a family that totally took in a young man and without that there is no story."

*** Mentions he has history of putting together packages for guys like Robby. First year at Ole Miss.

*** On getting a dynamic receiver: "We desperately need to get to that point." Mentions it shocks him that Auburn hasn't had a 1,000 receiver in a long time.

That's it for Hugh.
