I remember Cam casually throwing 60-70 yard passes at the Gators Friday Night Lights event in the summer of 2007. The next time I saw him, he was trucking a UT defender in a blowout game. He had the hype already.
To a certain degree, Mullen helped AU by leaving UF for Miss St. That, along with some nagging injuries, classroom and discipline issues, the UF culture, and the ever-present Tebow led to a RS season and him leaving for a JC year to regroup.
A JC NC, followed by another at AU, and a Heisman, culminating in a 1st round draft selection. It also pushed Gus Malzahn to the top of all offensive coordinators being considered for HC jobs, and ultimately the AU HC job in 2013.
Meyer fizzled at UF after Mullen and Tebow left, and Cam was already gone, leading to some skullduggery during the recruiting of Cam to AU. As AU was celebrating a NC, UM was submitting his 2nd resignation to UF in 12 months.
