When you read the reflexive outbursts, undeserved negativity and outright hot takes then it becomes obvious how long Auburn has existed without a "basketball culture." It is like many of you just started watching the sport and simply transferred over your emotional patterns and what you think you know about a sport from football to basketball.
It also makes it plain why anyone who hangs out on this forum during an Auburn contest is wasting their time. All it will do is suck the enjoyment right out of the game. This might be one of the most encouraging season starts for a Bruce Pearl-led squad in the entire decade he's been in the Loveliest Village -- if the 2021-2022 squad had half this supporting cast, they would have been monstrous -- but you wouldn't know it from the Bunker.
For this corner of the world, and in Auburn athletics, this is the very best portion of the calendar. Football is in full swing and mens basketball is overlapping. The holiday season is revving up. You best appreciate what is fleeting because you won't get a second chance.
This team will be fine. The fans? Get back to me on that one.
