compete with uga, turds, lsu, and uf for decades by using the same methods as them. We kept trying to beat them at their same game. That will never work, and history has proven that. Especially not now, when the turds and uga are at their height. We simply cannot recruit "consistently" at their level. Never have, never will. Just too much going against us that no coaching staff can change. So, doing it like everyone else is not gonna work. We gotta do something different.
The only time we tried something "outside the norm", was Gus putting in his offense. It made us different, and it worked. At least for a short time until the other coaches changed also, and Gus wouldn't. At that point we were done. Harsin is gonna be different than what we are used to. But different takes time. You can't change the direction and culture of 30 years in a program in one year. Hell Pearl showed you that. Took years of just patching holes, find a player here and there, but CHANGING THE CULTURE. Once he built the program, he started winning, and now recruiting takes care of itself.
I believe this is the approach required to build AU back to the top of the SEC. And I believe that Harsin fully understands that, and this is how he is approaching everything about this program. We can win and win big at Auburn. Honestly, as bad as Gus generally recruited, if he just didn't shit the bed every year and lose a game or two we shouldn't, he wins 9 games a season minimum. We are not "that" far off. Just gotta get the ship pointed in the right direction, and get everyone in the program pulling in the same direction. That is happening now.
