He’s not the only problem, far from it, but he plays the position that affects the game the most. It’s why QBs usually win the Heisman… they’re idolized when teams when and vilified when they lose. It’s why NFL teams will literally lose on purpose at the chance of drafting an elite one. It’s why all of the CFP teams (sans early Bama) have seemingly have been led by a NFL caliber starter. In the multi-variable equation that is football success, QB play is far and away the most important variable.
It’s why today’s takeaway — fair or not — boils down to his play. Same was true when he played well and led us to victory. It goes with the territory. We can and should place this loss predominately on Bo just as we can and should place our last two wins predominately on him.
Today, to put it bluntly, he was terrible. And it boils down the simple fact that he is not a poised player. You expect that with a freshman, you live with that with a sophomore, but you struggle to understand that with your 3rd year starter.
We can argue til we’re blue in the face about who’s “more responsible” for the offensive mess, and there’s plenty to go around, but only one player on offense truly has the ability to affect every play, positively or negatively. And more often then not, Bo chose the latter. Hard to win or even compete if that’s the case.
