57 years in this earth and it finally happened. I’ve met and talked to several sports figures and have always been able to communicate.
This past weekend I met Bo and The Big Hurt. Got a bro hug and a “WAR DAMN” from Hurt and a WDE from Bo. BUT…

SWEET MOTHER PEARL!!!! Classy, distinguished, pleasant and any other adjective you can think of to describe a great human being. All I kept saying was “it is truly an honor, thank you for the memories”. I repeated it like 3-4 times and my jaw was on the floor.
Doc WAS basketball to me. All my buddies were all in on Larry Bird but not me. Dr J was and always will be the player I enjoyed watching more than anyone.
They say you should never meet your childhood heroes because they won’t live up to your expectations. Well, THEY should have Doc as their hero.
