I'm always tickled by the athlete who, postgame after making some winning plays, dusts off this gem of a public speaking course line:
"I want to thank my Mom, because without her, I wouldn't be here."
Paging Captain Obvious!
I make no argument as to the biological veracity of the player's existential analysis. And I award points also to its delicious ambiguity as to whether the athlete's Mom actually worked him hard as a boy on agility, strength, and explosive football moves that would make Yox proud.
At any rate, Happy Mother's Day, ladies!
I'll close with a lamp.
Today is a pretty special day for my twin daughters. It's BOTH their birthday AND their first ever Mother's Day! They were born on Mother's Day themselves.
Our grandsons Henry and Jack are thriving and at 10 and 11 months old, starting to be nonstop fun (and WORK! I'm realizing I ain't 30 years old anymore as these boys are mobile, hostile, and agile!).
