Guvnernuh Tubbs

I think he's underestimating his ability. I know Billy supports him either way.
Assuming y'all are talking about Will Ainsworth, I'd definitely favor him over Tubs. Not that I have anything in particular against Tubs either.

I was actually surprised that Tubs is still married to her. I had not heard of a divorce, but just assumed. Wasn't she alleged to have stepped out on him back in the day? If so, since he was a college football coach, maybe that alleged conduct was a bit of a "good for the gander" situation?
The way I understand it is that they both have had their flings in their day.

What's sad is that we've probably only had about 5 years since Tubs was coach where our offense was any better than Tubershell. And most of those years were just because of having Cam/Nick at QB. Offense is hard. Need a QUARTABACK. GOTTA SKORE. @Docdumpsta
Different era. Tubs was a master of that era’s “meta”. Extremely underrated ball coach and probably a top 5 coach in his prime.

Edit: just now saw you said “since” Tubs. I would correct my comment, but I love Coach Tuberville too much. The point stands.

College coaches typically have a deal with their wives.

establishment has been wanting to get that junior Senator tag off of britt ever since she was elected. think you see her team politic hard for her as a veep candidate to vance. there is mutual interest there.

neither of them have a long tenure in the Senate. Britt is already on the appropriations committee and the rules committee, which are two powerful committees. not sure there will be much change when she becomes the senior senator. also not sure how that would factor into any future VP aspirations.

Maybe he forgot that answer because giving up a job as Alabama's Senator for the governor's mansion makes no sense. Both are statewide races, so no difference in campaigning territory.

Senators only have to campaign every six years as opposed to every four years for governor. There are no term limits in the U.S. Senate whereas there are for Alabama's governor.

The potential for inflating your financial portfolio in the U.S. Senate far eclipses its Goat Hill analog. The federal position is far more prestigious as well.

Should he remain in the Senate, Tuberville can keep his chief residence in Florida. If he is governor of Alabama, he has to live in Montgomery.

I don't get it.
Maybe it’s just so he can bring the bbq bunch back together in Montgomery. Say hello to Lt Gov Hugh Nall

I agree, a title and a few formalities is a very strange reason to push out a sitting us senator to prop up another. just one event of a broader trend you'll see with britt's current backing. that was just an explanation given to me by a few people who work on dc staffs.

She’s absolutely a rising star in DC

I know this is very subjective, but what in the world does that guy bring to the table that tubbs doesnt? Both are just going to take marching orders from above IMO. Tubbs wouldnt be there if he wasn’t a football coach, and Ainsworth wouldnt be if he hadn’t fell out of a rich ball sack

Alabama badly needs an Independent to run and get elected.

He's not getting pushed out of his seat.

ainsworth would bring a hell of a lot more to the table. for starters, he has 11 years of experience in AL state politics. Tubbs has....zero. your comments sound like general pessimism more than an informed opinion.

Not quite, I know a fair bit about the guy. If he’s had an original idea, I missed it. I remember when he first decided to run for the AL district 27 seat (my district btw)

to use a football analogy...will knows how the game is played in AL and he knows the players. tubs does not have any experience at the state level. i'm not saying he is the best possible candidate, just that i feel almost certain that he would be more effective than tubs.

Fair enough. I guess I’m just saying don’t expect anything to change with either one of them. Pick whoever opportunist you prefer.
